Murphy's Law has it that cows ALWAYS calve on the coldest, wettest day of the year and this year was no exception! Last night, in anticipation of the 1-3" of snow and ice, Sioux was moved to the old hay barn to calve. Sure enough, we didn't have to wait long. Shortly after 8pm, we realized tonight was the night and started checking her regularly. Just before midnight, she finally gave birth to a handsome bull calf. Tired and worn out, but safe from the icey weather and cold winds, all is well with Sioux and her baby. Even though Elvis is no longer the King of MMH, his legacy lives on!
