I overheard the Denver trip was a success and that MMH had a great time visiting the Splitt Creek Ranch family. They are almost like family these days and we were very proud of Emily (shown here with Trooper) and Camyeron. The girls did a great job showing their cattle...if only they could help us show in Texas!! Stay tuned for pictures of MMH's newest addition....he's a GOOD looking boy and just to keep those grand champion bloodlines going, he was the 2011 Grand Champion of the National Western Stock Show in Denver and the Grand Champion of the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!! We are excited and just another hint....his name continues our "Outlaw" theme!!
Even though I am a Little Dog (hence the name), I can still appreciate what a fine bull Decker is! He left MMH this week for his new home towards Dallas and we will miss him. The girls thought he was a stud muffin....I just thought he was a gentleman all around and can't wait to see his calves next month! Today we take a moment to reflect on 2011 and those we lost....TJ and Dudley. Without question, both have left indeliable marks on our lives, MMH and leave a legacy that will continue for years to come. TJ's calves remind us of his greatness each day and we look forward to the arrival of his last offsprings next month. We miss the boys!
The newest addition to MMH arrived over the weekend! "Miss Iowa" is ~18m old and quite an attractive young lady although she's still skittish from her trip south. Annie wasn't quite sure what to make of her but was the first to check out what was happening....and see if she could snag a couple bites of alfalfa while she was at it! This is your new blog post. It's been so long since we had any meaningful rain, I had forgotten the problems a heavy rain can cause! Since I am relatively low to the ground (hence my name - Little Dog!), mud is always an issue. The good news is I am a tough little dog and my devotion to the cows is unwaivering! Just like the post office USED to be, I do my nightly patrol of the herd in rain, snow or sleet.....esp as calving season approaches! |
