every once in a while, there is a calf that just seems to have "it"....two years ago, it was Mabel, Moose's mom, before that Alley, Millie and Shiraz. All the girls inbetween were amazing too but the "it" is just something that makes you look twice if you catch a glance of them. This year it is little Indy, the Shiraz/Decker heifer. She was an adorable baby and is growing into a flashy little show heifer. Indy has full eye pigment (something we LOVE as MMH), a feminine look about her, length and great width for her age, but more than anything, there seems to be a presence about her. I guess "it" is hard to define but you know it when you see it!!!

well, it might be considered child labor IF 1) he was actually doing something helpful or 2) you had to force him but believe it or not, Alex's latest post cattle feeding activity is to push around shavings in the trailer!! We were preparing it for our upcoming trip to Amarillo to pick up/drop off cattle so stay tuned for news on our new additions!! Rumor is I am the co-captain for the road trip... We have to admit, we are pretty excited about the upcoming calves....while they will be on the young side in Houston, the MMH fall born calves look GREAT!! This is Shiraz's heifer, Indy, at just 6 weeks old. She has a very feminine, eye catching look about her, great length, clean neck and good muscle....we can't wait to see her mature! |
