The Colorado girls have settled in nicely and moved out of their quarantine field this week. The combination of green grass and a little rain seemed to make everyone happy....

Just a day after the arrival of the Colorado girls, Mabel and Lizzy (sisters) give birth on the same day to beautiful Wyatt babies....one heifer and one bull calf. Check out that eye pigment on Mabeline's little heifer!! Fall calving continues with Shiraz, Belle and Sugar....
In a matter of minutes, the MMH herd grew significantly with the addition of bred cows and heifers from Colorado. All former show cattle with impressive bloodlines, we are excited to see what the future holds!
Alex loves shoveling the cow "stinky" and wearing his cowboy boots! Mini Herefords are the perfect show cattle for your child or grandchild. We are looking forward to our first pre-junior shows this spring at just 3 years old (unfortunately we will miss the State Fair at the end of September due to the arrival of human baby#2!)...not sure how focused some of us will be on the actual showing aspect but we will definitely have fun!!
well, the sabbatical is over and back to work we go!! ALOT has changed over the past few months....a few highlights and lowlights: 1) We lost a dear friend and mentor this past month with the passing of Steve Splitt. His integrity, honesty, eye for cattle and love of Mini Herefords will be missed but his influence will undoubtedly continue in the years to come. 2) spring babies arrived (and sold quickly - even the ones we had hoped to keep!)....now we wait for fall babies.... 3) we are expecting our own human baby in just a few short weeks - notable mostly because it prevents us from showing in Dallas at the end of the month! 4) and just in case it was getting dull around here, just yesterday, we acquired a herd from Colorado....they arrive a week from tomorrow!! They represent some of the best bloodlines in the breed so we are excited to welcome these new additions! |
