It's show time....almost! 03/09/2010
![]() Well, its that time of year again and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is just days away! The preparations are fully underway here at MMH. Today Millie, Lizzy and little Alley got washed, conditioned and dried....I even overheard that the master of all fitters is headed to Texas tomorrow. He might even be bringing me a treat from Nebraska....I will be waiting! Alley's big day... 03/08/2010
![]() is approaching. She is getting used to walking on a halter (sometimes unwillingly), washed and dried. She's just 4 months now but Miss Alley is looking forward to her first show at Houston. The next generation.... 02/25/2010
![]() It seems another generation is growing up in front of my eyes....this little heifer has her mother and two sisters in the herd. Her friend Rosie (right) is never far from her side. Preparing for the snow 02/24/2010
![]() In anticipation of the second "snow" storm to hit Montgomery this year, I supervised the move of new hay bales out to the fields. It was early morning so I was half asleep but by the time I went to check the cows that afternoon, the babies had made themselves right at home. Meet Pudge 02/22/2010
![]() Well, it didn't take long for this one to make herself at home! This is Pudge...we got her when she was just 3+ weeks old after someone brought her to the animal shelter. She is now 9+ weeks old and may only be 3lbs but she has plenty of personality! Lulu is her best friend as the rest of us don't really have much time for her puppy antics!! Moving on up... 02/21/2010
![]() The babies and their mothers moved into the big field today to enjoy more space and greener pastures. I am still waiting for Shiraz to have her calf....here she looks back hoping for more cubes! Its a girl's world... 02/16/2010
![]() The calves are growing by the day and soon it will be time to move into the big field. Here two heifer calves watch their mothers eat....it takes alot of energy to feed those babies! Good bye my friend.... 02/14/2010
![]() Today was a sad day...my old friend Katy passed away. She was here long before I arrived and was my first friend (she would play with me when no one else wanted to!). Katy didn't have the same dedication to the mini cows that I do, but she loved exploring and was a fierce protector (bikers beware). More recently, she just enjoyed the warm bed and the occassional visit to see the cows and make sure the neighbors' dogs respected her authority. She made sure those pesky raccoons stayed far away too! Alley and Priscilla return!! 02/11/2010
![]() Alley (TJ's heifer calf) Its been several months since I have seen little Miss Alley and how she has grown! She is getting ready for the Houston Livestock Show, with her mother Priscilla. I think she might like her food as much as I like mine!! Decker babies... 02/10/2010
![]() Well, the babies finally got to see the sun and now we are headed for more rain and cold!! Sugar and Madie's calves with SS Decker Jack turned a week old but I think its time for our friends from NE to head south with some warm weather. |
