It's not so quiet around MMH these days and it has NOTHING to do with young Alex!  This time its all about weaning day.  Little Annie Oakley was not very happy about been separated from Alice and she made sure we all knew it!  Annie and Murphy paced the paddock all day hoping their mothers would come back but secretly, it looked like they were happy to be free from their offspring....and let's face it, before you know it, the 2012 babies will be arriving.

It's that time of year again and today some of the calves were weaned...this weekend, they will get halter training so the fun continues!  This time, its Shiraz's job to babysit the "babies" until her own calf arrives. 

we are counting down the days for Miss Shiraz's new baby and I am sure she is too!  These days it takes considerable effort for her to walk down the hill -esp in 100+ degree heat so last night we delivered some cubes to her.  Each night I take my friends Pudge and CA Pudge with me to make the rounds and we are just waiting for our newest addition....new calves are the best!!

With no rain in the forecast, record drought and 100+ degree weather, this summer is no walk in the park!  Pudge and I have resorted to spending our "cow time" standing in the trough or wading in the pond.  Unforunately, the cows don't have that luxury this summer!  Little Murphy doesn't seem to mind though....he is quite full of himself these days and halterbreaking should be a spectacle!
