Sioux and Murphy Today was a busy day with the cows - after several days of freezing cold weather and ice, the sun finally emerged! We started off the morning (after a few treats and a snooze on my bed) by moving Murphy from the barn to the calving paddock. It was his first outing and what an adventure! He walked by himself (most of the way) from the old hay barn where he was born, to the calving paddock by the house. About mid way down the field, he decided that he'd had enough and stopped for a quick nap. I never abandoned my escort duty but did take caution to give Sioux and Murphy some space as you can see below. Since I am WAY bigger than a calf, the girls like to make sure I respect their space when the calves are newborn.
