It's in the genes! 09/20/2011
It has been awhile since we reviewed the "girls" and there have been so many changes in the past year, it makes my nightly patrol difficult at times! Despite that, there are a few constants around here.....Millie, Alice and Priscilla - just to name a few! The 2011 show calves are a reflection of these beautiful girls...take one look at the balance and depth, combined with a clean shoulder and femine neckline and its easy to see the genetics of MMH! Even in the heat of the summer and severe drought conditions, these girls look good! ![]() Priscilla Add Comment Leading the way.... 09/07/2011
to the Champion Drive!! Miss Alley is turning in to quite a fine young lady! She has shed her "show weight" and now looks like a nice, healthy heifer with a certain glow about her! Alley has been spending her time with Mr Decker and is expecting her own little bundle of joy next Feb/March. She has been watching the next generation prepare for the upcoming shows and likes to set a good example!! Labor Day.... 09/05/2011
means some quality time on the halter for the MMH babies! Everyone got some halter and leading time in today. Miss Pearl didn't mind too much...esp when the session ended with a full feed trough! It may be a desert.... 09/03/2011
out here but you wouldn't know it by looking at our girls! Sugar, Lizzy, Priscilla and Alley are enjoying the summer with SS Decker Jack and by the looks of all of them, they haven't been missing too many meals! Hay may not be easy to come by these days but we make sure the girls have a stocked ring at all times....and the cubes and alfalfa treat doesn't hurt either. This is your new blog post. It's almost that time again! This year we won't miss the State Fair of Texas and despite the drought, our girls are getting ready!! Just look at that muscle on our little heifer calves!! Even the youngest member of MMH is practicing his pose!! Bull.... 08/25/2011
Here he is...~2 weeks old and growing! Given the extreme heat and drought, this little guy spends most of his time sitting under the trees but when he does grace us with his presence, he's a good looking boy! Rumor has it that he might go to the State Fair of Texas, depending on the final head count....nothing like starting that show career early!! This is your new blog post. Weaning can be a rude awakening for the babies but they seem to adjust pretty well after a couple of days. Little Annie Oakley has decided to cope by adopting Shiraz as her new hero and surregate mother. Where ever Shiraz is, you will find little Annie. Here she is joining Shiraz for some dinner. Weaning day....deja vu! 08/14/2011
It was finally time to wean Pearl, Belle and Maximus....and wow, did the mooooing keep you up at night. Two nights later the good news was there was no more moooing....the bad news was the gate had been left open and the babies were back with their mothers!! Take two...weaning again....this time the babies were on to us so it required moving the entire herd to the paddock, securing the babies and then taking the adults back to the rear field. Shiraz was a good sport about the new additions but made sure to stay between them and her new addition (see Goodbye Dexter.... 08/13/2011
Today Mr Dexter left MMH to start his own herd....we wish him well and hope he enjoys the green grass and cooler weather...and don't forget to send that rain south!! New Arrival!!! 08/10/2011
At long last and despite weeks of 100+ degree weather, Shiraz gave birth to a healthy (and small) baby bull yesterday! During the nightly patrol, we came across this little guy.
