Buffy moves... 09/12/2009
![]() Finally....more rain - soon it will be time cut hay again! I left the comfort of the house only briefly to watch 'Buffy' and her chicks get moved to a safe, dry location for the day. Notice the HEAVY leather gloves needed to handle Buffy....she is very protective of those chicks so I stay clear of her!!! Add Comment Hatched! 09/11/2009
![]() Part of the nightly patrol includes checking on the chickens and gathering eggs. These aren't ordinary chickens...they have names and even like to be picked up. To top it off, the chickens get all sorts of special treats and bread. This annoys me incredibly and I become very jealous! Tonight something else stole my thunder though - a new peacock baby hatched! 'Buffy' and '7 Dollar' (because that's how much she cost) have been sitting on a nest of peacock and guinea fowl eggs for 28 days now. So far there is just 1 peachick and 3 guinea chicks but stay tuned....more may be hatching! Visitors 09/09/2009
![]() It turns out that the mini cows are so popular, they even have their own visitors!! We've had lots of children, people from several states, and some from other countries. The latest visitor, Maite, lives in Mexico City (pictured above with Millie). Priscilla and the girls move back 09/07/2009
![]() After spending the summer in the "back" field, Priscilla and the other heifers have come back to the front fields. They no longer spend their days wallowing in the pond but don't wander far from those trees either! Priscilla is officially retired after her Reserve Champion Heifer of the State Fair win last summer, but Alice and the younger heifers still have a job to do. When I awoke from my afternoon nap today, they were getting washed and primped for the show. | The World According to Dudley (as told by Little Dog)
