Rosie has apparently taken a liking to me....maybe I made a good impression during her formative first days of life (see end of Jan blog).  Either way, it looks like Elvis's daughter is my new best friend.

Today I took my friend Pudge out to meet the cows.  She wasn't quite sure what to think about something that large (much less when they come racing up for cubes) so she quickly got picked up!  The cows certainly are enjoying the spring grass...

Everyone is now back home and things seem to have returned to normal (no new dogs either!).  The girls are relaxing with the cows and calves while the bulls enjoy another week or two of solitude before they are back at "work".

Meet Lilly... 03/22/2010

Lilly is almost 2 months old and growing quickly.  She can keep up with her half sisters, Priscilla and Lizzy, these days.  I think Decker would be proud of his little calves!

After a year away from the show ring, Priscilla came back with her first calf, Alley to win Grand Champion Cow/Calf pair in Austin and Reserve in Houston.  In 2008, Priscilla won Reserve Champion Heifer at the State Fair of Texas and as a calf, she and her mother were Reserve Champion in Austin earlier that year.  Little Alley made quite an impression on the judges and I hear she'll be back next year as an older heifer.  I hear a special thanks is owed to Myka Blissard and Beth Schulz for their showing assistance!!

Tonight the cows returned home after a long week of showing.  Judging from the banners, ribbons and trophies, everyone had a good time! I hear this was TJ's last show since he turned 2 years old last October.  True to form, TJ won the senior bull divison in Houston (as he has done since he was a young calf).

I hear the heifers had some stiff competition in Houston....here is Lizzy showing in the January heifer class.  Below, Millie is standing in the champion drive.

Today was a great day!! My friend Jeff arrived from Nebraska to help prepare the girls for their big show week BUT before he did anything, he brought out a present (or two or three) for ME!!  Bones and biscuits all the way from Nebraska!!  The rest of the day was focused on the minis but I didn't mind.  My friend, Little Dog, observed Jeff's master skills at work (notic she is comfortably sitting on a matt, in the shade!).

does this mean another addition?

Pinkey and Blackie go to the office
What is going on?!?!?  These days it seems there is a new addition every time I turn around!  Recently, I have decided to stay on guard at the house vs going to the office because things just seem odd around here.  This weekend there were two MORE additions....Pinkey and Blackie (because that's the color of their collars).  Then to top it off, today I saw a new gift bag and inside it was a onesie with the MMH logo.  I guess that means my human family is expanding too?!?!?  Shiraz better hurry up and give birth before more additions arrive...just in the last month or so its been 3 calves, Lulu, Pudge and now this!

Well, its that time of year again and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is just days away!  The preparations are fully underway here at MMH.  Today Millie, Lizzy and little Alley got washed, conditioned and dried....I even overheard that the master of all fitters is headed to Texas tomorrow.  He might even be bringing me a treat from Nebraska....I will be waiting!
